Kyzen Loo will be continuing his career at Simon Fraser University (SFU) next fall.
The soon-to-be 20-year-old Seafair Minor Hockey product is the first signing of the 2012 recruiting class for the defending B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League champions.
"Kyzen is a skilled forward with good size who brings an excellent work ethic to our program," says SFU head coach Mark Coletta. "I expect Kyzen to compete for a considerable role on our team next season and for him to develop into an excellent player at the university level."
Loo is coming off an outstanding campaign for the Sockeyes that saw him lead the league in points per game, finishing with 50 points in just 24 games.
In three seasons with the Sockeyes, he compiled 119 points in 108 games. He also brings experience from the Western Hockey League, having suited up for the Prince George Cougars for 32 games during the 2009/10 season.
"I'm excited to be coming to SFU to continue the pursuit of playing a high level hockey," says Loo, who plans to study Criminology. "I'd describe myself as a skilled playmaking forward who wants to make a difference to help the team, and I'm looking forward to helping SFU win another BCIHL championship."
BIG NAMES AT FOOTBALL CAMP
Bobby Singh has once again put together an impressive group of guest coaches for his fourth annual Down Set Hut Football Camp slated for May 12 at Minoru Park.
The former B.C. Lion has used his connections and friendships to attract some of the biggest stars in the CFL, including quarterback Travis Lulay, the reigning league most outstanding player and slotback Geroy Simon who is poised to become the CFL's alltome leading receiver.

Outstanding Special Teams Player, will also be at the camp along with Richmond's own Angus Reid who was named to the All-CFL Team in 2011.
Other players from the defending Grey Cup championship who will be helping out include Paris Jackson, Shawn Gore, Mike Reilly, Rolly Lambala, Dean Valli, Jon Hameister-Ries and Davis Sanchez.
Kicking off the camp will be a warm-up and fitness session led by Mark Uyeyama, the head strength coach of the San Francisco 49ers. The camp, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m., is open to children ages seven to 15. The cost is $100 in advance or $125 on the day of the camp.
