Steve Robinson (centre) received the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy as PCAHA coach of the year after guiding the Seafair Bantam A1 Islanders to the provincial tier one and Western Canada Bantam AAA championships this past season.

It was quite the swan song for Seafair Minor Hockey when it came time for the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association to hand out its year-end awards at last weekend’s AGM.

The organization will be merging with Richmond Minor next season to form the Richmond Jets Minor Hockey Association. Seafair made one final contribution to its trophy case with several honoured by the PCAHA.

Topping the list was being recipient of the 2017-18 service award.

This reflects above and beyond the regular duties of a minor hockey association.  Seafair’s many projects included “Sweep the Streets,” a Richmond Food Bank Drive and a B.C. Children’s Hospital Head Shaving Fundraiser.

Individual honours included longtime president Nigel Shackles receiving the Gold Puck Award for outstanding service of 10 years or more.

Steve Robinson was winner of the prestigious Bruce Allision Memorial Trophy  as PCAHA Coach of the Year after guiding the Bantam A1 Islanders to a historic season that included winning the provincial tier one and Western Canada titles for the first time in the association’s history.

Steve Howitt was recipient of the John Ptucha Coaching Development Award and Alex Dengler received the Earl Sinkie Trophy as MVP of the PCAHA Juvenile Division.

Other PCAHA Award winners included Richmond Ravens Female Ice Hockey Association’s Lolly Gagnon being named Head Referee of the Year.
