Raptors mania is in full force across Canada, as the Toronto basketball team has made it into the 2019 NBA Finals against California’s Golden State Warriors.
Bringing that enthusiasm to Richmond, SilverCity Riverport is hosting free viewings of the finals on the big screen.
Tickets to the games – limited at two per person, per game – are available in-person at Riverport’s box office.
The theatre promises the live screenings will be “an immersive experience you could only get courtside at the game.”
Other Lower Mainland theatres screening the games include Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas in North Vancouver, Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas in Vancouver and Cineplex Cinemas Langley.
In addition to the Cineplex screenings, the Richmond’s River Rock Casino Resort is hosting watch parties for games five (Monday, June 10) and six (Thursday, June 13) of the finals.
“Channel your inner Drake energy and watch the Raptors historic run to the NBA finals on a 50-foot HD screen in the Show Theatre,” says a statement from the casino.
Admission to the event is free and food specials such as burgers, hotdogs, pizza, nachos and popcorn will be available. Doors open 30 minutes before the game starts.
As of Wednesday morning, the series between the Raptors and the Warriors was tied with both teams having won a game each.
