It was another big night and a milestone feat for Richmond basketball standout Jessica Jones.
The former McMath star surpassed the 1,000-point plateau in her university career on Saturday in Simon Fraser University’s 99-91 overtime home court loss to Northwest Nazarene.
The red shirt junior finished with a game-high 32 points that included going 7-of-17 from three-point range in 44 minutes of playing time.
Jones leads SFU in several offensive categories this season including points per game (17.8) and three-pointers (74). She is also logging a team-leading 29 minutes.
SFU now sits 11-5 in NCAA Division 2 Great Northwest Athletic Conference play and 16-10 overall with two-game road trip up next to the University of Alaska Anchorage and University of Alaska, starting Thursday.
Jones’ career at McMath included being a two-time city MVP and leading her school to the provincial title game in 2016 — earning first team tournament all-star honours in the process.
