Gymnastics Canada has announced the 2020 Indo Pacific Trampoline and Tumbling Championships will be hosted by the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Indo Pacific Championships are held every two years and feature gymnastics federations found along the Indian and Pacific oceans. The sports of trampoline, synchronized trampoline, double mini-trampoline, and tumbling will be showcased in this age group competition with categories ranging from 11-years-old to the senior categories (17+). The event is slated for Sept. 3-6, 2020.

“This event will be the largest international trampoline gymnastics event to be held in 2020 and provides our athletes with a fantastic opportunity to compete at home while also providing great exposure for the sports of trampoline and tumbling in Canada,” said Ian Moss, CEO of Gymnastics Canada. “We’re excited to work with our accomplished local organizing committee in BC for the execution of this event that will welcome over 600 athletes, coaches, and officials from all over the world.”

Previous participating countries at this competition have included: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, South Africa, Namibia, Argentina, Brazil, Qatar, Mexico, and the USA.

The event was last hosted by Canada in 2004 in Kelowna.
