It’s another decorative season for Richmond soccer standout Montana Leonard at the University of Calgary.
The fourth-year McMath graduate was named to the Canada West First All-Star Team last week as a key player in the Dinos’ march to this weekend’s Canada West Championships.
Leonard leads Calgary in scoring with a career-high nine goals in 15 matches. She also has three assists. It’s the second-straight year she has earned First Team conference honours. She was also a Second Team selection back in 2017.
Calgary (11-1-3) advanced to the Final Four Championships with a 1-0 quarter-final victory over Manitoba on Sunday.
Leonard assisted on the winning goal, scored by Damaine Sawatsky in the 80th minute.
The Dinos are looking for their second straight berth to the U Sports National Championships. They will travel to Edmonton on Friday to take on host MacEwan College. The other semi-final match-up has defending champion Trinity Western taking on UBC.
