As a part of the Change-Up Project, the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Foundation, in cooperation with The Cape Group, has awarded Richmond City Baseball $50,000 to refurbish their diamonds.
At Palmer Secondary sports fields, they had full natural turf infields installed to the three main diamonds.
These were previously used for fastball and the turf infields have made them more playable in rain and also gave truer bounces for safer play.
In addition, the club purchased three portable mounds that allowed them to easily convert the fields from U11 to U13 distances, which also requires little maintenance compared to clay mounds.
