Considering the free hand afforded them by their majority in Parliament, the budget handed down by the Conservatives this week was remarkably free of surprises.

The Editor, Re: "Defensiveness proceeds breakthroughs," Community, March 30. Joe Greenholtz claims in his column that some people in Richmond are feeling uncomfortable with the pace of change in our city.

The Editor, Canada is blessed with an impressive array of diverse cultures. People from more than 200 communities call Canada their home. Festivals and celebrations representing these cultures have made Canada very rich.

The Editor, Re: "Bill 22 for students: Yap," Letters, March 21. Mr. Yap, does your party's vision of B.C.

From the attention it attracts, you'd think silent body language - the way we communicate our feelings through posture, gesture and expression - was a recent discovery. But it must be the oldest form of communication around.

The Editor, Re: "Mayor not cheering new RCMP deal," News, March 26. Mayor Brodie says he is not sure what options Richmond will have if it comes to severing RCMP ties.

First there were the quiet departures: Iain Black and Barry Penner, both talented MLAs, gracefully bowed out of the B.C. Liberal government last year to accept jobs in the private sector.

The Editor, Please take a minute to think about the consequences of pay parking in the Village of Steveston.
