Peace is a choice

If I was to ask you what you really want in this life for yourself, what would your answer be? Most people would probably say they are searching for happiness.

If I was to ask you what you really want in this life for yourself, what would your answer be?

Most people would probably say they are searching for happiness. How many of you have asked for something you thought would make you happy only to discover it was a quick fix to make you feel better for a short time?

This search for happiness becomes endless and, the truth is, happiness is a state of being that comes and goes. Most of us believe if we get all the things we want, we will be happy and at peace.

However, wanting to live our lives in peace can often mean making choices and being willing to look at what life is reflecting back to us.

So what is holding you back from being at peace?

Is it another person, your work or a living situation? Or, is it because you just don't have that certain object you think will fix it all?

Take the time to be quiet and write down the first things that pop into your mind that tell you why you're not at peace.

Do so without letting your mind edit the response. If you're willing to tell the truth to yourself, these realizations can become a vehicle to support you through whatever change you may want to make in your life.

Gandhi said it loud and clear: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Change begins with each one us. If ultimately what we want is peace in our lives, it is our responsibility to make these changes.

We can begin by moving out of situations that create drama and letting go of the desire for objects that we believe will make us happy.

Simply do those things that are aligned with your heart and those that nurture your spirit and well-being.

As we make these individual changes, it begins to have an effect collectively.

Check it out, make a choice to make even one change you know will bring peace into your life and then see what happens.
