I’ve been going through the library recently reading about Romans and barbarians. Even those terms tell us a lot about how history and our modern culture is structured.

The Editor, I just want to congratulate Mylora Sidaway Golf Club on one of the best Thanksgiving meals I’ve had. A friend and I saw the ad in the paper and went over Sunday around 4 p.m. We were graciously greeted and served by Corine.

The Editor, I take my hat off to Mark Glavina, the owner of Phoenix Art Workshop in Steveston. Once again, he was the drive and impetus behind organizing Steveston’s 4th annual Grand Prix of Art last month.

The Editor, I want Richmond wildlife lovers to know that I spotted four eagles today at No. 3 Road and Williams while waiting for the bus — a phenomenal sight! The first two were close together, flying in low circles.

During our trips south of the 49th we often engage into conversations about the “American Dream.” Invariably, the atmosphere gets political. Back on home soil the tone is more philosophical when discussing the “Canadian Dream.

The Editor, Re: “Wake up, Steveston,” Letters, Oct. 8. How quickly some people forget history. I was amused by Mr. Bob Ransford’s letter of Oct. 8 and just had to respond to bring to light some of that history.
