Dear Editor, Reports concerning the Canadian Lifeboat Institution (CLI) and the Steveston Lifeboat’s collision with the seawall near Steveston require clarification.

L ike pulling on a pair of new socks or climbing into a bed with fresh sheets, we revel in the New Year. It’s not the paper hats, budget bubbly and long wait for a cab but rather what Dec. 31 represents.

I ’m writing this just a couple of weeks after the winter solstice, aka the longest night of the year. Here in coastal B.C.

M y tradition with my children at the start of a new year is to walk through the old calendar and remember the year past.

Dear Editor, I found Graeme Wood’s article “Street names tell a city’s history” News Dec. 24 interesting. I would like to comment on his “Side note: ‘It’s time to rename the No. 2 Road Bridge.’” I couldn’t agree more with that statement.

Dear Editor, A very interesting situation is developing in Vancouver`s Chinatown that should bring wry smiles to many Richmond residents.

I t’s a new year and time for resolutions. At the Richmond News , we’ve decided to make a few ourselves.

Dear Editor, Re: “Mayor charts course — plan aims to house 75,000 more residents by 2041,” News , Dec. 3. The need to finance bridges, buses, trainways and roadways is the result of our development practices.

Dear Editor, Re: “Steveston High site rushed through: neighbours,” News , Dec. 19.

C ritics of the B.C. Liberal government’s decision to green-light the Site C dam project (and there many reasons to be critical of it) are missing the key point in the whole debate.
