A Richmond rescue society is searching for help to build a sanctuary for rabbits.

The Rabbitats Rescue Society is looking for construction and general labour help, along with donations, before the winter season arrives.

The society is hoping to build a sanctuary to house several hundred abandoned pet rabbits running loose in Richmond.

“The uptick in the construction industry has made it really difficult for us to get volunteers,” said Sorelle Saidman, founder of Rabbitats Rescue Society.

“It’s a good news (and) bad news scenario I guess, but everybody is working (and) all the companies have paying projects lined-up. We had companies volunteering to help out when we started, but they got too busy.”

Rabbitats Rescue Society is located at a rented farm on No. 6 Road.
