Richmond escapes weather woes so far ... but we got a funnel

While much of the Lower Mainland remains gripped by snowstorms, Richmond appears to have escaped the worst of winter's wrath thus far.

While much of the Lower Mainland remains gripped by snowstorms, Richmond appears to have escaped the worst of winter's wrath thus far.

However, don't put away the snowboots and furry toque just yet, snow and a blast of Arctic air are set to drape the city on Wednesday and Thursday.

There's a 60 per cent chance of snow flurries forecast for today (Wednesday), followed by more snow on Thursday and wet snow Friday. Temperatures could plummet to -8 C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, still on the weather front; it wasn't quite a tornado, but the funnel cloud (pictured left) caught the eye of one keen Richmondite when it hovered above the south of the city on Saturday.

The one-minute video was uploaded to YouTube and shows the cloud changing shape during a turbulent day of weather across the region.
