There will be one final curtain call for the high school basketball careers of three standouts from the McMath Wildcats.
Jessica Jones, Jessica Zawada and Bobbi-Jo Colburn have been selected to play in the annual B.C. High School Girls Basketball All-Star Game on Saturday, April 16 at the Langley Events Centre. The selection process includes Grade 12 players only who were recognized as all-stars at either of the three recent provincial championships at the AAA, AA and A levels. Other recognition throughout the season is also factored in finalizing the 20 players.
The Wildcats concluded their best-season ever earlier this month by reaching the provincial AAA title game before falling to three-time defending champion Brookswood. They were the first Richmond team to reach the B.C. title game in 19 years. Earlier, McMath dominated the Lower Mainland AAA Crehan Cup and the Richmond Championships.
Jones was a first team all-star at provincials who will be continuing her career at Simon Fraser University next fall. She also earned MVP honours and the Lower Mainland and Richmond Championships.
Colburn was a second team all-star who is headed to the University of Calgary while Zawada was a third team all-star who is taking her game to the University of the Fraser Valley. Both were also first team all-stars at the Lower Mainland and Richmond playoffs.
