The McMath Wildcats are destined for the number one senior girls "AAAA" ranking in the province after capturing last week's North Shore Tournament, hosted by Hansworth secondary school.

The 16-team event featured six of the top ranked teams in B.C., including the No. 1 Kelowna, No. 2 Riverside and No. 3 McMath.

The Wildcats rolled through Friday's qualifying round with wins over Kelsey Franks, Heritage Woods and Saint Patrick's.

The impressive run continued in the playoff round, first overpowering Little Flower Academy, then ousting Riverside in the semi-finals. They closed out the tournament with a two-set win over the Seaquam Seahawks in the final.

The Handsworth tournament was icing on the cake for a very successful October.

The month began with the Wildcats placing third out of 48 teams at the UBC Tournament. They then travelled to Kelowna to participate in another 48 school event, this time the Best in the West Tournament. McMath placed second, losing in a hard fought three set final to the Kelowna Owls.

The Wildcats also remain unbeaten in Richmond League play with a 5-0 record.

The team is coached by Rob Forbes and Gagan Mahal. The roster includes: Juliana Kaufmanis, Kristen Almhjell, Sydney Jensen, Rebecca Hansen, Amber Pomeroy, Katrina Tolentino, Natasha Magnus, Hilary Schaap, Danielle Kiss, Marta Gorgopa, and Katrina Tan.
