Steve Nash club team caps dominate season in style at Hollyburn

A team based out of Steve Nash Fitness World and Sports Club in Richmond was among the winners at Tennis B.C.’s recent provincial championships, held at the Hollyburn Country Club Aug. 6-8 and sponsored by Miele.
The local entry features player/coach Gino Suarez, captain Collin Ross, Paul Beaton, Simon Harvie and Kevin Berar.
Their competition was very strong and included host Hollyburn, Vancouver Island champions Victoria and Interior representative Kelowna.
Richmond served notice was a convincing 3-0 win over Hollyburn on the Saturday morning and followed that up by winning on all three courts again against Victoria in the afternoon. The provincial title was clinched with another 3-0 triumph on Sunday against Kelowna. In total, Richmond dropped just one set over the entire weekend.
After also winning the Lower Mainland B1 League championship back in June, the Steve Nash team looks forward to the challenge moving up to the “A” Division next season and taking on the some of the best players in the province.
