Sharks advance to Lower Mainland final

Steveston-London takes on STM in Friday's championship game.

One city senior boys basketball team has secured a provincial tournament berth while two others are knocking on the door as the Lower Mainland AA and AAA Championships have reached the final two days of action at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
A season of milestone achievements continues for the Steveston-London Sharks.
Fresh off winning their first-ever Richmond title, the seven-year-old school will make its provincial debut in two weeks time at the Langley Events Centre. The Sharks locked up a spot in the AAA showcase with an 80-63 win over Windermere on Wednesday afternoon in semi-final action.
No. 2 ranked Steveston-London will now play No. 5 St. Thomas More in the Lower Mainland title game on Friday at 6:15 p.m.
The Sharks took a two-point lead into the second half and then pulled away from the Vancouver champions, led by the 37-point performance of Fardaws Aimaq. City MVP Nigel Boyd added 25.
