Four Richmond speed skaters won gold at a speed skating championship last week

The athletes with Richmond Rockets speed skaters competed on March 9 and 10 at the BC Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Abbotsford.

Athletes Alice Yaxuan Guo and Alivia Lam competed and won overall gold in the women's youth under 14 and women's neo-junior under 16 divisions, respectively.

Guo and Lam took part in the 400-metre, 800-metre, 1,000-metre and 1,500-metre distance races for their divisions.

Speed skaters Magnus King and Andy Liu also won overall gold in the men's youth and men's junior divisions.

King won first place in the 1,000-metre and 1,500-metre races and came in second in the 400-metre and 800-metre races.

Meanwhile, Liu won all his races in the 500-metre, 1,000-metre and 1,500-metre distances.

In the Open Class Women (Adult) Division, Shione Francis won the overall silver and Katya Zadorozhnaya won the overall bronze after both competed and scored in the 500-metre, 1,000-metre and 1,500-metre races.
