Eight Richmond speed skaters head to BC Winter Games

The Richmond Rockets Speed Skating Club will be sending their skaters to the BC Winter Games in Lhtako Quesnel/Prince George in late February.

Of a total of 13 speed skaters competing from Zone 5, the Coastal B.C. zone, eight of the skaters are from Richmond.

Zone 5 stretches from Tsawwassen to Whistler.

The Richmond Rockets going to the BC Winter Games are Anki Then, Ethan Leung, Cyrus Ho, Aaron Liu, Tilman Astor, Matthew Kam, Alivia Lam, Magnus King and Coach Sophie Beriault.

One of the Richmond Rockets skaters, Egan Ly, also qualified for the BC Winter Games, but will not be making the trip.

They are coached by Chris Poljer-So and Sophie Beriault

Two Richmond Rockets, Quirin Teh and Vanesse Li, will be taking part as young officials.

The BC Winter Games will be held from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25.
