The youth soccer season is well underway and one of Richmond’s community clubs is bubbling with excitement for the year ahead.

Richmond United started the season off with a full boys and girls program and, in the last year, has doubled in size, according to its director of operations, Mandhir Punia.

“Our clubs history of success in developing players, and creating fun and challenging environments for players to grow has been recognized throughout the community,” Punia told the Richmond News.

“As a result, our first year of running a boys program has been overwhelmingly positive.

“This year, we have multiple boys and girls teams participating at all levels of play. Recently, we had 10 of our teams participating in the SX Cup, with our U18 Strikers (Metro) bringing home first place and our U14 Dynamite (Metro) bringing home second. All our teams ended the weekend with huge smiles.”

Punia said the club was “extremely excited” about the appointment of its new sporting director, Ross Kenny, who “brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him…he will be instrumental in taking our club to the next level.”

Punia added that he feels the Richmond community has been “appreciative and supportive of our club living the values of promoting diversity and inclusion.”
