Another Panther Cheer team is Florida bound to participate in a prestigious event.
A week after the Richmond club’s Open Team earned a spot in the USASF Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando, a younger squad’s is heading to Tampa a week later.
Panther Cheer’s Junior Level 3 team has earned a spot in the The D2 Summit — an invitational only event based on selected competitions throughout the United States. The local squad earned the only paid bid of three available during the recent Spirit Cheer Best of the Northwest National Championships in Tacoma, WA. The girls did it by being the top scoring team of all the entries vying for the title.
“It is such an incredible moment for this team of 14, ages 10-14, most of whom have been working and training together for the past six years or more,” said Panther Cheer coach Stephanie Kennedy. “A couple of them are in their 10th year with us!”
The D2 Summit, hosted by Varsity All-Star, is for smaller Cheer gyms with 125 or fewer athletes in their program.
