McRoberts grad Tia Tsang was a regular in SFU's rotation this season as a freshman guard.

An impressive freshman season with the Simon Fraser University women’s basketball team ended in a “sweet 16” loss at the NCAA Division II National Championships for Tia Tsang.
The former McRoberts Strikers star came off the bench to play 18 minutes Monday night in a 77-64 loss to No. 2 seed California Baptist in the West Regional final played in Anchorage, Alaska.
The No. 5 seed Clan was looking to defeat a third conference champion in four days after earlier wins over CCAA champion UC San Diego and GNAC champion Alaska Anchorage. Still, their 26 win season is a program record since joining the NCAA II level back in 2010.
Tsang, a 5-foot-9 guard, wasted little time being part of head coach Bruce Langford’s rotation. She averaged 16 minutes and five points per game. She showed her range by connecting on 38 of 107 three point attempts which ranked third on the team.
Tsang had seven points in SFU’s big 80-70 win over No. 1 Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night. She signed with the Burnaby Mountain school last spring, along with former McMath star Jessica Jones.
