Hillary Strelau has been recognized for her outstanding season with the UBC women’s softball team.
The senior outfielder and Richmond Girls Softball Association product was among three Thunderbirds named to the Cascade Collegiate Conference First All-Star Team. Strelau showcased her outstanding speed on the basepaths — breaking her own school record with 25 stolen bases. She also led UBC in batting average (.426), hits (55) and runs scored (38).
The Hugh Boyd graduate transferred to UBC after putting up big numbers at Douglas College — earning Conference MVP and All-American honours back in 2014.
She was joined on the Cascade First All-Star Team by teammates Sydney Brown and Lindsey Ogilvie. UBC’s season ended with a pair of losses at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships in Salem, Oregon on the weekend.
The Thunderbirds had reeled off six consecutive wins to qualify for the post-season with a 13-13 conference record.
