The Richmond 2004B Islanders came away with a hard-earned second place finish in the Silver Pool at the U14 Spring Sizzle Tournament in Kelowna. Seeded in a pool with three older teams, the younger and more exuberant Islanders battled their way to a 1-2 record. In the playoff round, due to some stellar defence and consistent hitting, the Islanders beat South Delta ’04 and Thunder ’03 to meet the host Kelowna team in the final. The game was close for three innings but the older Heat team prevailed in the end and the younger Islanders came away with a hard-fought silver medal. Congratulations to the girls for a well-earned placing.
