Video: Vehicle rolled over 3 times in Richmond smash

Only one driver was taken to hospital after the rush hour accident on No. 2 Road

Dramatic footage has surfaced of yesterday’s rollover crash during rush hour in Richmond.

The Richmond News reported on Thursday how a serious accident had shut down No. 2 Road, between Westminster Highway and Granville Avenue, at around 4:30 p.m.

A dashcam video posted to social media shows the severity of the crash, which happened in the northbound curb lane, just south of Walton Road.

In the video, the two vehicles collide, causing one of them to roll over at least three times before resting on its roof.

The other vehicle can be seen jumping the median and clipping a road sign, before going out of the shot.

Eyewitnesses claimed that only the driver of the rolled-over vehicle was taken away in an ambulance.

However, the driver of a third vehicle involved in the accident contacted the News to say that the driver of the rolled vehicle appeared to only have a few minor injuries and that he drove him to a relative's home in Vancouver.

He added that it was the driver of the vehicle which clipped the road sign who was taken away in an ambulance.

The BC Ambulance Service told the News that it received a call at 4:22 p.m. about the accident.

“Two ambulances responded. Paramedics cared for and transported one patient to hospital,” said the spokesperson.

The News has asked about the condition of the driver and has also reached out to Richmond RCMP for more details.
