A Steveston thrift store is inviting the public to come out on Saturday to help it celebrate its 30th birthday.
The SOS Children’s Village store on Moncton Street is hosting a day-long party for the community.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the store will have birthday cookies, live music, a fashion show and a fundraising raffle.
Store manager Yasmin Tang said she was very excited about being able to mark the milestone with her volunteers, customers and the local community.
“Everybody is welcome….we’re going to have a big sale and a big celebration,” Tang told the Richmond News.
“We will have a big display to show people what we actually raise money for, because a lot of people are not really sure.”
Tang said the fashion show will have 10 models (all customers and volunteers) modelling clothes from the store.
“It’s the first time we’ve done this kind of thing, so I hope to see local people come out,” she added.
The store opens at 10 a.m., the live music will go from noon to 2 p.m. and the fashion show goes from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
