A crosswalk on No. 3 Road in Richmond was painted over the weekend with a design to honour veterans.
Emblazoned with the words “Lest we forget” and two maple leaves, it sits near the cenotaph and Richmond City Hall at Anderson Road.
An "unveiling" ceremony will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18.
The new crosswalk was painted by the City of Richmond at a cost of $20,000.
The design was made in consultation with stakeholders, including the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 291.
The veterans crosswalk is located where the annual Remembrance Day ceremonies are held every year.
Because of the wear and tear from traffic, it’s expected to cost about $3,000 a year to maintain.
