With the holiday season ending and the New Year beginning, it’s time for Richmond City Hall decorations to be stored away for another year.

The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset is asking for community volunteers to help take down the 20th Winter Wonderland decorations on Jan. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jim Ling, a member of the Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset, said if enough volunteers lend a hand, they’ll have the job done in a day.

“Even one or two hours are going to be super helpful,” said Ling.

Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset hosts the event annually. Last December, the group moved the event outside, transforming the City Hall Plaza into a winter forest with 34 Christmas trees and festive lights.

Many people were able to find peace and happiness at last year’s event, said Ling, adding that the 34 trees used will be replanted in local parks.

“Events like this can rebuild our faith and strength during times of difficulties. We look forward to meeting everyone at the end of this year,” said Ling.
