Everyone knows it’s important to plan for retirement, but a sudden $250,000 lottery win can sure help those post-career years.

For George Peradenic, it’s a prize that he says will make “the golden years even more golden.” The retired Richmond resident, who bought his winning ticket at River Road’s International News for the Aug. 13 draw, recently won second prize for BCLC’s Daily Grand.

“I have certainly dreamed about winning the lottery, but never really thought about what I would do if I ever actually won,” he said in a press release.

Peradenic matched five numbers on his ticket – only missing the grand number – leading him to split the prize with another winner in Ontario and take home a lump sum of $250,000.

“It still seems a little unbelievable at times, but I’m very happy, it’s a great feeling,” he said.

What exactly he’ll do with the money has yet to be decided, but Peradenic says he hopes the win will help to relax and “enjoy the simpler things in life,” like camping.
