Richmond reaches out to homeless

The Richmond Homeless Coalition Homes for All has partnered with local organizations, businesses, and social agencies and faith groups to hold Richmonds fourth annual Homeless Connect Day.

The Richmond Homeless Coalition Homes for All has partnered with local organizations, businesses, and social agencies and faith groups to hold Richmonds fourth annual Homeless Connect Day.

Community members will be providing services to people who are homeless in the city (estimated at 250).

Health services, foot care and massage, dental information, haircuts, bike repair, food and clothing will be on offer free of charge.

Also on site will be many community agencies available to assist with resources such as addiction services, youth services, income assistance intake, mental health services, and employment services.

A pancake breakfast and a hot lunch will be given, as well as providing the guests with hygiene kits, and a take-away nutritious snack. This event will take place at St. Albans Church (7260 St. Albans Rd.) on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a pancake breakfast served at 9 a.m.

People are invited to volunteer or donate clothing and/or hygiene products or contribute financially to cover the expenses of the event, which involves close to 200 volunteers.
