The Richmond community is invited to take on the challenge of two obstacle courses at Oval Community Day this weekend.
There will be sport, fitness and entertainment activities for all ages at the Richmond Olympic Oval from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24.
Oval Community Day is a day to provide residents and community members an opportunity to engage and take part in sport and recreational activities at little or no cost.
It showcases a wide range of sports and fitness activities for everyone, with this year's program having expanded to two obstacle courses, including a 90-foot inflatable, alongside skill-testing games and the Can3x Summerfest basketball tournament.
New this year is a dedicated performance area with live entertainment such as kids' party host Rock'N'Beau, community zumba and circus performances.
Three-time Olympian Eleanor Harvey and Senior National Team member Dylan French will be demonstrating fencing. Attendees can try skateboarding, fast pitch, football toss, wheelchair basketball and surfing at the event.
Visitors can also explore the Olympic Experience with interactive simulators, hands-on exhibits and Olympic and Paralympic stories.
“We are so excited to welcome back the community for a day that celebrates Richmond’s commitment to activity, movement and fun,” said Axel Hovbrender, chairperson of the Richmond Olympic Oval Corporation.
Attendees can also enter a draw for prizes from several local organizations.
