An alleged hit-and-run incident involving a cyclist is being investigated.

Richmond RCMP is asking for witnesses or dash cam footage from the public for an alleged hit-and-run case involving a cyclist.

RCMP officers responded to a call around 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 of a man on the ground screaming.

The man told police he was riding his bicycle southbound on Gilbert Road and crossing the intersection of River Road when a white pick-up truck struck him.

"According to the cyclist, the truck turned left onto Gilbert Road from River Parkway and collided with his bicycle," said Cpl. Adriana O'Malley, media relations officer at Richmond RCMP.

The truck was last seen driving southbound on Gilbert Road.

The cyclist was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

"Unfortunately, the cyclist was unable to obtain the licence plate of the vehicle and no immediate witnesses were located in the area," said O'Malley.

"Richmond RCMP have canvassed the area for video surveillance but to date, none has been located."

Anyone in the area of Gilbert and River roads between 6:45 and 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 5 is asked to review their dash cam footage.

Any information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 quoting file number 2024-31734.
