Richmond RCMP is investigating a second pedestrian collision at almost the exact same location on Saturday just two hours apart.

The Mounties are asking for drivers to check their dashcam footage after a 45-year-old man collided with a dark SUV on Railway Avenue, just south of Granville Avenue, around 6 p.m.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

The driver, a 49-year-old woman from Richmond, remained on scene and has been cooperative with police.

Very close by, about two hours later, an elderly man was struck by a vehicle. The man is expected to survive.

Police said on the weekend it was too early to determine whether charges will be filed against the driver in question and it’s also not clear what caused the crash or if speed or alcohol are factors.

If you have any information about the first of the two incidents, contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file# 2020-5771 or via email at [email protected].
