Driver was found driving on the sidewalk in Richmond.

An individual was found driving and parking illegally on a Richmond sidewalk.

Richmond RCMP posted a photo on social media platform X of a driver parked on the sidewalk near No. 3 and Lansdowne Road.

According to the post, the driver was waiting to pick someone up.

RCMP's Road Safety Unit stopped the driver and, fortunately, no pedestrians were injured.

Driving on the sidewalk can lead to a fine of $81 and two points on a driver's licence.

"While Richmond RCMP has not seen an increase in this type of Motor Vehicle offence, speaking generally, while enforcement is a significant part of our role, police also want to educate the public on various aspects of the law, including the Motor Vehicle Act," said Cpl. Adriana O'Malley, spokesperson for the Richmond RCMP.

A social media user mentioned that parked cars in front of a nearby condo building is a common sight in the area. They suggested putting concrete barriers back in place in front of the condo building.
