By Tuesday afternoon, 4,877 customers were without power in Richmond in an area south of Granville Avenue.

On northern Vancouver Island there were 18 outages affecting 4,753 customers. Worst hit was Campbell River with more than 3,200 customers affected.

But the situation could get worse because a wind warning was issued by Environment Canada for Metro Vancouver.

Southeast winds of up to 80 km/h will develop over the inner south coast regions and west Vancouver Island were forecast for the morning.

Southeast winds of 60 km/h gusting to 90 were supposed to develop over the western sections of Fraser Valley early in the afternoon.

The evening was also supposed to be troublesome, with southwest winds of 60 km/h gusting to 90 developing over the Central Coast and inland sections, according to the Weather Network.

With heavy rain, the conditions were serious enough for City of Vancouver crews to be out trying to keep curb-side drains flowing.

Residents were asked to remove leaves from the streets gutters to prevent flooding. The leaves should be left on boulevards or adjacent property to avoid clogs.

Anyone seeing flooding or traffic light problems in Vancouver is asked to call 311 or 604-873-7000.
