Dear Editor,
Re: "Richmond gift card audit details forwarded to RCMP"
It is time for big time change in the political and management levels of the City of Richmond.
I have a high level of frustration with Richmond which is difficult to share with other voters.
We have a mayor who spends his time augmenting his already generous salary by sitting in numerous Greater Vancouver meetings. What is his salary for if not to represent us?
Among the meetings he attends is the one responsible for an eye-popping cost over-run of the wastewater treatment plant. This project goes into the project management hall of fame as among the worst managed project in the history of engineering.
My thoughts turn to lack of responsibility and asleep at the wheel.
Meanwhile, back at city hall, after we have been treated to a 17-per-cent increase in property taxes over the last three years, we learn that at least a third of a million dollars in gift cards go unaccounted.
Gift cards for showing up for work or being a good team player. Give your head a shake.
Why are we generously paying city management to waste our tax dollars? And where were the auditors? We really need some reality brought in accompanied by house cleaning.
