A person has been identified for leaking the video showing a couple having sex inside a private room at a Richmond karaoke bar, according to the Richmond RCMP.
On April 12, an intimate video was posted on numerous Chinese websites and shared widely on WeChat.
The leaked video clip appeared to be filmed through a window on the door of the private room at Deco Nova karaoke bar.
Cpl. Dennis Hwang, spokesperson for the Richmond RCMP, said the karaoke bar cooperated with officers to “determine the well-being” of the individuals in the video.
“The Richmond RCMP Cybercrime Unit has been working with internet service providers and social media platforms,” said Hwang, adding that the video has since been taken down from social media and other communication platforms.
“At the request of the people involved in the video, our investigation will be concluded.”
No further information on the investigation is available.
