Fun fact about Richmond...
Do you know who signed up to be firefighters in Richmond back in the day?
In the past, all firefighters in Richmond were volunteers.
One of Richmond's former firehalls, the Burkeville Fire Hall No. 4 at 780 Lancaster Cresc., opened in 1947 and had volunteers helping at the hall until the volunteer brigades were being phased out and replaced by paid professionals around 1969.
The firehall was replaced by the current Sea Island Fire Hall in 2007.
