A Richmond RCMP member has been charged in connection with a hit and run drunk driving incident.
Cpl. Tony Bernard is alleged to have sideswiped another car while off-duty in the 5400 block of Highway 17 in Delta.
According to the Delta Police Department (DPD), the victim then followed Bernard's car, took down the licence plate and reported the accident to the police.
Shortly afterward, Delta Police tracked down the car in question and pulled it over.
Bernard is charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired, refusal to provide a breath sample, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop after an accident on Sept. 15.
The DPD continued its investigation and forwarded a report to Crown Counsel, which resulted in the charges being laid against Bernard.
Bernard will be appearing at Surrey Provincial Court on Nov. 21.
