The Massey Tunnel reopened Monday morning after a serious motorcycle crash shut it down for hours overnight. A man in his mid-40s remains in serious condition from injuries he sustained when his northbound motorcycle veered off the road and struck the side of the tunnel.
The rider was thrown off his bike in "unforeseen and unknown circumstances," causing fractures in his legs, arms and face, said Cpl. Peter Somerville of the Deas Island RCMP.
The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Sunday and the tunnel reopened early Monday morning.
