IHIT is leading a new missing person file after Richmond resident Kiem Cuong "Steven" Yip's disappearance.

Murder investigators have been called in to probe the disappearance of a Richmond man, whos been missing for more than two weeks.

Police believe Kiem Cuong Yip, 45, has been the victim of foul play and are appealing to the public for help in the case.

Yip, who goes by the name Steven, was last heard from on April 20, when he spoke with a family member on the phone.

Worried relatives called Richmond RCMP on Monday. Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Homicide investigators were called in the next day.

Evidence to date points to foul play, said IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Pound, although police are keeping quiet on the reasons why they consider his disappearance suspicious.

"At this point in the investigation we are not going to be releasing why we believe he's been met with foul play," said Pound.

"Right now we are trying to concentrate on identifying a location where he might be last seen, and attempting to locate his vehicle."

Yip has no criminal record and is not known to police.

He is described as 5-foot-6, about 130 pounds, with brown eyes and dark hair. His vehicle, also missing, is a grey 2003 Toyota Corolla sedan bearing B.C. plates 712 TTH.

Anyone with information on the location of Yip or his car is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or CrimeStoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
