A man has been charged after an alleged drug lab was discovered following a fire at a Richmond home in July 2020.

Tien Wei Tsao has been charged with possession for the purpose of selling, altering cannabis by use of an organic solvent, and possession for the purpose of distribution of cannabis.

On July 17 last year, Richmond RCMP and Richmond Fire-Rescue received a call of a fire at the 5,000 block of Calder Court, near Railway Avenue and Blundell Road, around 2 p.m.

While Richmond Fire-Rescue was putting out the fire, an alleged drug lab was found inside the residence and the Richmond RCMP Drug Target and E Division Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response teams were called in.

“Evidence, consistent with an alleged cannabis drug extraction lab, were located and seized from the residence,” said Cpl. Adriana O’Malley in a media statement.

Any information regarding a suspected drug lab should be called into the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
