Christmas festivities are wrapping up for many, which means it’s time to take down the lights, decorations and tree.
In Richmond, there are several options for recycling Christmas trees, but don’t forget to first remove all decorations and tinsel.
1. Curbside collection
Richmondites with curbside green bin collection may cut up their tree, bundle the pieces and place it at the curbside on their regular collection day.
2. Drop it off
Head on over to the city’s recycling depot, located at 5555 Lynas Lane, or to Ecowaste Industries at 15111 Williams Rd (Triangle Road off the south end of No. 6 Road) to drop off your tree.
3. Chip it
Participate in the annual tree chipping event at Garry Point Park on Jan. 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Richmond Firefighters Association.
