Starting May 25th, you can directly fly from Vancouver to two more Chinese cities: Tianjin and Shenzhen.

This new, twice-weekly service is operated by Hainan Airlines. Craig Richmond, president & CEO at Vancouver Airport Authority said Vancouver International Airport will be the first airport in Canada offer routes directly to Tianjin and Shenzhen.

Tianjin, half an hour from Beijing, is an exporting hub in northeastern China. Shenzhen, in southeastern China, is a modern metropolis that links Hong Kong to China's mainland.

“The addition of Hainan Airlines brings the total of Mainland Chinese carriers to seven plus Air Canada, further strengthening YVR’s position as the connecting hub airport between Asia and the Americas.”

Hainan Airlines, a Chinese operated airline, ranks as one of the world’s best airlines and has received the Skytrax 5-star airline rating for seven consecutive years.

In a press release, Jichun Liu, Vice President of Hainan Airlines said “the new route will provide passengers with more travel options and convenience.

“It will also further strengthen the economic, educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.”

The route will be operated using an Airbus 330, and the flight will depart from Vancouver at 11:30 a.m. and stop at Tianjin 2:15 p.m. the next day, then arrive at Shenzhen at 7:45 p.m.
