The sun shone bright as Steveston welcomed thousands of participants and onlookers for the 3rd Annual Steveston Dragon Boat Festival Saturday. The Fraser River was alive with the sounds of drums as a kaleidoscope of dragon boats sailed by.
"The day went really well and the residents of Steveston couldn't have been more welcoming and understanding," said organizer Ann Phelps.
"We sold out at 60 teams, which came from all over B.C. and from the States. Many rowers told us how great the festival was and how beautiful Steveston was.
"We had rowers showing up as early as 6: 30 a.m. and we didn't hear one complaint from the neighbours."
