A grey SUV flipped onto its roof at the corner of Shell Road and Williams Road Friday afternoon, causing traffic to be diverted in all directions, as Richmond RCMP and TransLink officials assessed the scene.

Cpl. Dennis Hwang, of Richmond RCMP, confirmed no one was seriously injured in the accident, which involved two vehicles.

β€œIt looks far worse than it is,” said Hwang.

This is the second bizarre car accident in as many weeks in the area. On July 19 at Shell and Steveston Highway, two TransLink buses collided into one another.

Spectacular crashes are not uncommon in Richmond. Last August a car crashed into a public art display at Terra Nova and burst into flames
