Police are asking for help from the public after a house that was scheduled to be torn down was set ablaze.

On Aug. 1 around 5 a.m., Richmond RCMP received a report of a house fire in the 7600 block of Montana Road, just northwest of the Blundell Road and Railway Avenue intersection.

The previous evening, a party was held at the house and a number of people left at around 1:30 a.m.

Fortunately, there were no injuries during this incident and no damage to adjacent properties. Investigators have been unable to determine the cause.

However, people were seen leaving the premises during the fire and the police would like anyone with information to help them out.

There is a possibility that the fire was accidentally set, said Cpl. Sherrdean Turley.

Wed like the people who were present at the time of the fire to identify themselves and let us know exactly what happened.

Anyone with information should contact Const. Eric Chan at 604-278-1212 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
