The Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast rolls into Richmond next week, with a charity dinner planned to welcome the team.
The team is stopping off to cool its heels on Wednesday, Sept. 26 after eight days on the road theyve pedalled around 100 kilometres per day raising funds for pediatric cancer research and caring support programs for kids with cancer and their families.
This tour marks 15 years of Cops for Cancer, the largest national contributor to pediatric cancer research, raising millions of dollars since it was conceived.
One of four annual B.C. tours, the Tour de Coast is made up of just under 30 riders.
These committed law enforcement and emergency service personnel, along with their support crew, will pedal more than 900 kilometres in just nine days from Sept. 19 to 27.
The Tour de Coast Team will meet with members of the Richmond community at the family-friendly event.
Tickets are $55/person, which includes dinner, entertainment, and a silent auction. People wishing to buy a ticket can contact the Richmond Credit Union or Carol de Haas at 604-992-1403.
At the event, Vancouver resident Jaspreet Gallian will shave off her 24-inch-long hair to show support for her nephew and uncle, who are both battling cancer, and to raise funds for the Big Honkin Head Shave, part of the Cops for Cancer 15-year fundraising celebration.
