It appears to be a trend seen often in Richmond, so much so that its the third time its happened in just over five months: a car has crashed into yet another business.
This time, the victim was the Terra Nova Dollarama.
On Saturday afternoon, witnesses say a car jumped the curb in a parking lot and crashed into a window of the dollar store. A photo shows significant damage to the wall, with what appears to be a pane of glass on top of the vehicle.
Daniel Gerlach was in the store at the time.
"The store shook and stuff came crashing down from the display inside,” he told the Richmond News via Facebook.
The manager who was working when the crash happened, and who did want their name used in the article, said the store did not need to close in spite of the damage.
“All the customers ran out, just to check out what (was) going on outside,” they said.
“Once we checked the outside, we saw big smoke coming out from the car and suddenly we realized that the car (had) hit our store wall. It was really scary.”
An employee called 911 and emergency crews arrived on scene. There were no injuries, however.
Repairs on the wall are expected to be made on Monday and the store remains open.
