A piece of public artwork entitled Traceries is planned for the Capstan Way Sanitary Pump Station Plaza, according to a city report.

The work will envelope the station and incorporate drawings, a neighbourhood map and a possible vine trellis.

Artist Mia Weinberg, who has also worked on pieces at the Hamilton Community Centre and the Steveston Tram Building, will do the work.

It will cost $80,000 and be paid for by a nearby developer (Pinnacle International), as a voluntary contribution.

The artwork has drawn comparisons to art at the Alexandra District Utility building.

The plaza is on Capstan, between Hazelbridge Way and Sexsmith Road. It could become a small hub for people after teh Capstan Way Canada Line station is built.

The artwork is expected to pass through council in two weeks.
